New Music: Brian McKnight - "What I’ve Been Waiting For"

Guess whose Back? The venerable soul crooner Brian McKnight has dropped a new single called "What I've Been Waiting For."

For me, it's a schmaltzy ballad, but it's perfect for Urban Adult Contemporary radio. It's more James Ingram than Ne-Yo. You feel me?

But more power to Brian -- after 15 years in the biz, he knows how to swoon the ladies. Brian McKnight's new LP Evolution of a Man is due in stores Oct. 27 via E1 (formerly Koch Records). [*What's up with the title? A little more creativity please*]

New Music: Jay-Z -- "Off That" (F/ Drake)

Another blah song from Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 LP (due Sept. 11). Now after hearing three subpar cuts from the collection -- "D.O.A.," "Run This Town" and now "Off That," I think it's safe to say that BP3 may not live up to all of the hype.

Knock, Knock: It's Keri Hilson (Video)

For what it's worth, Keri Hilson is one of the best new artist in 2009. Her debut effort, In a Perfect World . . . was a good effort with "Knock You Down" and "Make Love" the standout tracks on the LP. Her latest single, "Slow Dance" is okay. Watching her performing it on Walmart Soundcheck makes me appreciate the song a little more.
